The Michigan Maritime Museum is currently accepting applications for an Event Sales Manager. Under the limited supervision of the Executive Director, the Event Manager is responsible for coordinating and implementing the event business of the Michigan Maritime Museum, managing the logistics and executing the MMM public and private events, primarily on the campus of the Museum.
This position requires the ability to handle multiple details and can be very hands-on. Work schedule varies, sometimes including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Required attributes include a minimum of 2 years or more experience in event services or related hospitality industry, computer experience, written and verbal communication skills, and a high level of interpersonal skills. Must be self-directed and able to work well unsupervised, well-organized and detail oriented with excellent follow-up. Must be positive, result oriented, and able to work well under pressure, and be able to work with a diverse group of associates and clients. Supervisory and sales experience preferred.
This is a part-time position with a minimum of 25-30 hours per week that could grow into full-time work. Starting pay is $20/hr with an addition of a 10% commission on gross event revenue which would be paid monthly.
