    CAREER Firefighter / Paramedic
    • Starting salary of $54,277 increasing to $74,362 after 36 months.

    Minimum Requirements:
    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Valid MI driver’s license
    • Certified Michigan Firefighter I & II
    • Current Licensed Michigan EMT- Basic/Paramedic*
    • Must be able to pass a background check
    *EMT-Basic and EMT-Advanced providers are still encouraged to
    submit an application if they are currently enrolled (with proof) in a
    Paramedic program. However, any applicant hired must have a
    Michigan EMT-Paramedic license within 1 (one) year of their date
    of hire for continued employment. This list will remain valid until
    Aug. 15, 2025 for potential openings throughout 2025.

    South Haven Area Emergency Services Authority (SHAES) is comprised
    of four municipalities: Casco Township, Geneva Township, South Haven
    Township, and South Haven City. SHAES is a combination department
    located along the Lake Michigan shoreline providing a variety of
    services including: fire protection, ALS transport services, confined
    space rescue, extrication, dive rescue and ice rescue over the span of
    nearly 100 square miles. SHAES operates out of three stations,
    responding to 2,600+ incidents per year.
    Our membership consists of nineteen career members, including
    Firefighter/EMT-Paramedics, Firefighter/EMT-Basics, Fire Inspectors,
    Training Officer, Deputy Chief, and Chief. We employ a total of thirty
    Paid-On-Call members that respond directly to incidents assisting with
    fire suppression, extrication, and medical requests for service.
    SHAES career staff are offered a competitive wage and benefits
    package, with a starting salary of $54,276 increasing to $74,362 after 36
    months, MERS B4 w/E2 defined benefit pension, HSA health insurance
    100% funded by the SHAES Authority, per current contract agreements.
    SHAES career staff (Local 2658) are members of the International
    Association of Fire Fighters and Michigan Professional Fire Fighter’s
    Union.
