“With a powerful voice inspired by the likes of Big Mama Thornton and Koko Taylor, Crowley can raise the hairs on the back of a listener's neck with her resonating, passionate delivery of classic blues!”
- John Sinkevics, Local Spins
Self-professed “Funkateer” and award-winning singer and harmonica player Serita Crowley, from Grand Rapids, brings a raucous mix of Funk, Rock, Blues, Neo-Soul, and Americana. Serita, along with her partner, guitarist Jon Hayes, have been performing together for over two decades. They play much of the timeless “feel good music” from the 60’s and 70’s along with their own original hits. Their self-titled EP release in 2012 won several awards including WYCE's Jammie Award for "Best Short Form Album", along with several Eclipse Awards for “Best Sound Design”.
Serita and Jon have also been supporting acts for music icon Smokey Robinson, the legendary rock band Kansas, and many others. Serita’s fiery, blues- and soul-infused vocals come straight from the heart that is connected, dynamic, raw, versatile, engaging, and constantly emotive through her entire presence. The Duo moves intuitively through music. We are welcomed into the obvious telepathy they share in reading their audience and taking us on a journey, navigating so many genres with musical excellence and deep heart. Serita and Jon just BRING IT. EVERYTIME!!!!
