Film Screening with Producer Harvey Moshman
Thousands of factory workers boarded the SS Eastland in the summer of 1915, heading to a company picnic, but the steamship had a dark secret that the passengers never knew until it was too late….844 died in a matter of minutes.
The Eastland disaster has long been overshadowed by the Titanic sinking three years prior, yet the filmmakers hope now that Chicago’s most infamous ship disaster and the miscarriage of justice that followed no longer remain one of America’s forgotten tragedies.
The film includes rare photos and newsreel footage of the disaster.
A shortened screening of the film will be followed by a Q&A with the film's producer.
