Deane and his family have been providing technical support and services regarding erosion control, landscaping design, and a wide range of plants including dune grass. He has been a key consultant and contractor for many years for highway exit erosion control for Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois Departments of Transportation. In 2008 - 2010, Olde Paths planted over 40,000 plants for a local homeowner on the Lake Michigan Shoreline south of South Haven.
